There are three kinds of presentations you can do in magic. Stories, lectures and games are the three kinds of performances. The interesting thing about lectures is that they are about something other than the magic itself. The performer is actively demonstrating a magic principle, or is selling something to the audience such as an idea or a product. A good example of that would be David Roth’s Portable Hole routine. Games are when the trick is performed solely for the sake of itself.
